The Jantje was built in 1970 as hull, then expanded and put into operation in 1973: Completed in 1970 as one of 3 hulls (manual lay-up process glass fibre in polyester resin) and bought for expansion by the climber at the Staack shipyard. As was customary at the time, the materials were oversized and very robust. The Jantje was equipped with the best of all the finishing material as an owner's vessel (mahogany and solid teak rod deck, headwater throughout with polystyrene and PE foil thermally insulated). In the course of the years 1985 - 1995, the rudder blade was replaced by the climber to a larger one and the mast to aluminum, as well as a revised used engine.
