The Balticat shipyard, formerly Hüffermann, builds sporty, ocean-going carbon fibre catamarans as well as catamarans for the demanding cruising sailor in northern Germany using high-tech epoxy vacuum infusion processes. For 30 years, this German shipyard has been known for the high-quality production of cruising catamarans 12 - 15 m long in epoxy construction. Since 2014, the shipyard has specialised in the construction of catamarans designed by the Australian design firm Schionning Designs. Traditional ship from Denmark in 2nd hand The Ylva is a modern, elegant interpretation of the archipelago cruiser – slim, light and fast. With her low displacement and generous sail area, she can reach impressive speeds of up to eight knots upwind. The Ylva celebrated great regatta successes in the 1970s, was further developed in 1976 and won again. A total of 89 boats were built by the end of the 1980s.
