This Amel 50 of 2020 is exceptionally well equipped for cruise on the high seas, with a full Garmin navigation set - including a touch screen tracer, a sounder, a radar and an AIS - it also has an Iridium Go satellite communication system and a system of solar panels wired directly in the improved lithium battery bank. The electrical system has been still optimized with an 800W inverter and a Master Volt monitoring system.
The rigging of the Amel 50 is designed for the ease of handling, with an auto-crowd manual realer, a manual genoa reel, a large-capped velog in the mast, and three improved electric winches with all the winding lines leading to the cockpit zone, which means that this ship can be controlled from the safety of its central cockpit. With a set of cushions increasing comfort in the anchor and at sea, it is really one of the safest ships for offshore cruise.
Below the bridge, the interior is finished in light oak with a custom padding, and includes two refrigerators in the kitchen, a heating system, a pre-installation for a washing machine, and a safe in the rear cabin. Many improvements thought out throughout - including tailor -made stainless steel cooking supports, additional current hands, and a dedicated locker for a generator - make this ship a particularly well prepared boat for a serious cruise.
The engine compartment is home to an inboard Volvo D3-110 HP Diesel engine, coupled with a Volvo Penta HS25AE-A hydraulic gearbox for a fluid and reactive power capacity. The propulsion is still improved by a foldable varifold propeller, which reduces the drag under sail while maintaining an excellent push in reverse. A retractable bow propeller of 8 hp (24V) offers additional control during docking maneuvers and in restricted areas.
The Amel 50 won the European Yacht Prize of the Year in the luxury cruiser category (2018). Designed for simplicity and pleasure, it combines comfort, safety, performance and innovation, and offers an adaptable navigation experience-whether for a world tour, a Cruise in Tuamotu, or a weekend with family, friends, or just by two, Amel 50 is the essence of a soft and serene navigation for all types of travel.
