Owner speaks : Having sailed around the Scandinavian archipelagos in my youth, I promised myself I would return there by sail, with my own boat, setting off from France. What better opportunity than retirement to embark on this project?
Starting from scratch, the priority was to find a boat suitable for this programme, which led me at the end of 2020, after multiple visits to the Atlantic, English Channel and North Sea, to Atalante, an Océanis 393 Clipper.
Suitable for my programme of long coastal sailing in potentially difficult seas with a limited crew, very well maintained and equipped by the previous owners to ensure optimal safety at sea, I made Atalante my own by sailing across the Atlantic to Spain, Ireland and England. I covered 6,000 miles over four summer seasons, during which my experience allowed me to complete or update the equipment in order to best prepare for my future voyage to Northern Europe.
The summer of 2025 was the big moment, with a trip to Bergen in Norway via the Baltic Sea and back via the Shetlands, Scotland and Ireland, a 3,000-mile loop in three months.
Atalante has proven to be reliable and safe, all common manoeuvres are controlled from the cockpit, with a 55 hp engine, in all circumstances throughout the years, allowing us to enjoy its spaciousness both in the cockpit, thanks
