Built in 1942 by Gebroeders Boot in Leiderdorp, this robust motor tugboat was used for heavy work: towing ships from DBG-Ruhrort over the Rhine to Mannheim and back again. Originally equipped with a 300 hp steam engine, the Limburgia underwent a major modernization in 1963. Since then, she has been powered by a powerful Brons 8ED 8-cylinder diesel engine of 500 hp, good for 335 revolutions per minute – an impressive piece of engineering known for its reliability and characteristic sound.
