Westerly Marine Construction was undoudebly Europe's leading production builder of fiberglass boats from the mid 1960's through the 1970's. Westerly recognized a market for a small cruiser with accommodations that approached the comfort level of larger yachts. L. Giles & Partners designed the Centaur and it was so well received that more than 2,500 hulls were produced between 1969 and 1980, with more than half being exported directly to the US.
